Eriko Ikeda Kay will translate from the Japanese Yurie Nagashima’s “Bokura” no “onna no ko shashin” kara watashitachi no gārī foto e (2020). The volume is an in-depth critical study of the discourse surrounding a group of young women photographers in 1990s Japan, among whom Nagashima was a central figure.
Eriko Ikeda Kay is a translator who focuses on modern and contemporary art and literature. Her translation of Yurie Nagashima’s book will be her first book-length project of critical writing.
Yurie Nagashima is an acclaimed Japanese artist and writer known for raw and intimate photographs of the home, family, and everyday life as situated in a broader feminist dialogue. In addition to visual art, critical writing, and fiction writing, her practice includes social and curatorial work.
