Jenni Sorkin’s book Deviant Scale: Cloth at the Body’s Margins will examine textile-based exhibitions of sculpture and installation in the US between 1985 and 2000 and how they enacted populist strategies to disseminate identity-based content.

Jenni Sorkin is professor and chair of History of Art and Architecture at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She writes on intersections of gender, material culture, and contemporary art, working primarily on women artists and underrepresented media. She is the author of books including Live Form: Women, Ceramics and Community (University of Chicago Press, 2016) and Art in California (Thames & Hudson, 2021).
