Salar Mameni’s book Bahamut: Aesthetic Flows of the Arabian Sea will study art produced in the Arabian Sea’s coastal regions. It will consider sacred ecologies as evidenced in practices concerned with petrochemical pollution in littoral environments.
Salar Mameni is associate professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies with an affiliation in the History of Art at the University of California, Berkeley. Mameni is the author of Terracene: A Crude Aesthetics (Duke University Press, 2023).
