Sohl Lee’s article “Contemporary Pasifika Art: Decolonial Currents and Communities in the Pacific Ocean” will examine contemporary Pasifika artworks that cast the Pacific Ocean as a living archive of Indigenous resurgence, ecological connectivity, and decolonial futures.
Sohl Lee is associate professor of Art History at Stony Brook University (SUNY) and the author of The Minjung Art Movement: Decolonization and Democracy in South Korea (Duke University Press, forthcoming). Her work spans East Asia and the Pacific and focuses on coastal/oceanic ecologies and decolonial visual cultures.
